Default Any way to reopen a Shopping Cart after customer makes a payment method error?

Is there any way to change a shopping cart from closed to open? Every now and then a customer phones as they accidentally chose an alternate payment instead of PayPal and as these alternates (pay by Cheque, Money Order, etc.) are not immediate they want to reopen the cart and pay by PayPal.

I don't think the following can work but it could even be useful if the customer wants to add more items to a closed order and if PayPal had already processed. Admin person reopens the original order and the payment so far would be retained and added items (and extra shipping costs if needed) would be added to the invoice and the customer would then choose to pay the balance owed. The argument against this is added admin time to 'help' the customer fix the order error, but we do that already...

    Hi JRR

I believe the reason why you can't generally do this is because prices, currencies, etc. can change all the time - so at the time of the order the stock, prices, values are copied to the orders table.

We have similar issues and what we have done is add an order style of cancelled and then provided a re-order button which puts all the items back in their cart. If you want to do the full service version then log in as the customer using the button in admin and then repopulate their basket for them.

    Regards.
