    Default credit card transactions

    Hi,
I'm trying to set up so that I can accept credit card payments. I've been looking at the code etc. and I just want to clarify what happens to the credit card information entered by users at the moment. I think that it is simply stored in the database in the orders table (in the case of the split email option also in an email) and any actual processing of the information has to be implemented by me. Is this correct?
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Alison

What you describe is correct in the default CC module. There are other modules available that process the CC in realtime, for instance Authorize.net, paypal IPN, worldpay, etc...
