Default v2 stable enough to use on a live shop?

    Hi there,

I am working on a new shop for my company, my current shop is an old oscommerce version that has been heavily modified (both in the features as well as the graphical side of things). But it's working like a charm so no need to upgrade.

Anyway, for the new shop I want to use a real current version and OSC MAX caught my eye since the BTS system will allow us much more freedom regarding the layout and naturally all the built in contributions are very interesting too.

So now my question: Would you recommend using v2 for a live shop already or is it better to install 1.7?

No, use 1.7. There are some bugs that will not allow v2 to function correctly in all environments. Taxes are currently broken in the checkout.

Actually, if you apply the various bugfixes in the bugtracker, it should be ok to use in production without any problems.

Just to clarify then, v2 is stable enough for a live shop environment? Have the latest bug fixes been included in the latest download? Thanks.

No, you need to apply the bug fixes yourself, they are not included in the download.

I have applied the bugfixes to my new store now, and are using it with success for a live shop. It will be launched as soon as the tax problem in the logged in catalog is fixed (display only without tax when logged in).

You can view my work at www.whyitwork.info for a short time before i move the store to its new location www.amandaslille.no

I hope the taxview issue will be resolved soon so i can launch public..

    =)
