Sorry ... I was not clear enough in my last post.
When the customer checks out they will buy everything in their cart. However, what I was trying to say is that your customer could have come to your store browsed and added products. Gone away for 2 weeks. Come back again and found those products still in their basket (which they then had to remove before shopping for other items.)
On your missing mail - I would check the server logs and mail logs for your server to see if this was generated at all. Might also be worth checking the customers configuration ... Ie. PC/Mac; FF,IE,Chrome,etc. Just in case this is a client issue (unlikely)
