Install OScommerce module into OSCmax

Hi,

I want to know can I install OSCommerce 2.2 add-on download from osCommerce Community Add-Ons then install into OSCMax2.0.25? Because my web master is saying I can't install OSC2.2 module into OSCmax due to different structure?

I thought OSCmax is base on OSC2.2 with some addons already installed. So the core should be the same.

How long is a piece of string? It very much depends on the actual contribution. Head over to the Projects section, just to get some inkling of the amount of contributions that have been 'ported' to 'Max. Many contribs. can be added so trivially that they don't merit a Project.
It is helpful to know the structure of the BTS templating used in 'Max, if intending to try yourself.

Usually OSC addon comes with installation instruction. Can I just follow that instruction to install addon into OSCmax?

As far as downloading, unzipping the file and placing the catalog folder where you want and putting in information for your database, site name, yeah i think its fair to say it is. But just in case you get stumpped - here's some general instructions to properly install oscmax...

The best way to look at osCMax is as osCommerce with loads of contributions installed. ie. someone else has done all the hard work of installing all of the mods for you.

Now this does mean that when you try and install a mod from osCommerce you can not simply drag and drop the files over the top ... but once you have modified your osCommerce store you can't do this either. But the original install instructions should work - you just may have to search a bit more carefully ...

Why not post a link to the actual mod that you want to install into osCMax ... you never know someone might have already ported it for you ...

As for the "different structure" - your webmaster may be referring to the BTS (basic templating system) installed ... but this again is a mod from osCommerce.

Best thing to do is to explain which mod it is you want ...
