Adding more than 6 Items to the Shopping Cart Clears It

Is there a setting of some sort to cap on how many items can be added to the shopping cart? Adding more than six items to the cart at this 1.7 installation clears the cart and one has to start all over.

There is no hard limit - it is limited by your hard drive space and server resources.

If your having issues - v1.7 is now several years old now and is not really supported anymore and there are several bugs over the last few years that have been taken care of in v2.0...

Could it be a coding problem? I've added a couple of backend modules. Would that eefect the frontend? the shopping cart?

I would rather upgrade but the client probably does not have the resources for that sort of thing. How is the upgrade? How long does it take? Do you have an idea? Ballpark? Something I could tell the client and see if they can handle.

Big question - there is ONE module that was depreciated in V2.0.... Is the client using different ways to display attribs? (buttons, check marks or just plain drop down boxes).

If they only need one type - then it is not that hard. Depending on what you want to keep in the old store. It is easier to setup a NEW store - export/import customers - then use EZPOPULATE to download and upload product from the old to new store.

Simple store with just a few dozen items - maybe an hour. Complicated store with lot of items and some customization - WITH proper tools - half day to a day worth - plus maybe a day for tweaking - just in case. How ever a site with several mods - modified templates and fully using allot of built in feature/tools - several days.

With proper tools - a site could be down for like 5 to 15 mins (do everything offline first using a AMP, WAMP, LAMP or MAMP package)

Well I tried this and it's not working. Not sure what's going on. I installed the latest version on a separate dir and did as you said but no luck. See here: transformationsart [dot] com/store/

Even though I've tried numerous time to run easypopulate it gets stuck around the 10th item.

Another thing is that I can see all the categories in the admin but the menu is not being built on the catalog pages.

What's going on?

These were the steps I took.
1. Created new dir
2. uploaded and installed oscMax 2
3. Replaced the DB with the backup db from the original site to get all the customer and order data.
4. Ran easy populate

Downloading or uploading? You may have a DB issue on the 10th item if that is allway happing...

Replace a V2.0 with a V1.7 will not work. Use phpmyadmin to export JUST the customers data -not the ORDERS- and import that.

Also you may want to look at MySQLDIFF - it will help in converting and OLD DB to NEW Structure - that way you may be able to keep all history.

Well I got past that error, it was in fact, single quotes in the EP file. I got about 10 hours into the new store and this site is just too heavily modified to continue so we are going to try to fix the bug. Is there a fix? a patch for this attribute display bug?

I fixed it. Simple fix really! I read through some previous posts about the problem with the attributes and it seemed there was a theme going. The problme was the mix of radial options and drop downs. So I checked and indeed all the products had that mixed, so I switched the radial option to a drop down and that fixed it. I could kick myself in the head after that one. Wow!
