Does OSCMax run on PHP 7.2?

A server I had a site on for a client upgraded their server to PHP 7.2 and the site disappeared. Does OSCMax run on PHP 7.2?

You're going to have to try the development release, to get it to run on 7.2 - I haven't yet tried it, being able to run 5.3

Installed today on one of my VPS..

PHP Version:	7.2.29 (Zend: 3.2.0)
osCmax Version:	osCmax v2.5.5

Initial look appears to be running OK - not went in too deep though (yet).

Speaking from experience, each of these efforts for basic or essential functionality is nearly as much effort as getting out of oscmax. Life was sooo much easier when I moved on to opencart, it has everything modern and it just works.

I put significant effort into the development release and it was full of holes. I limped it along, worked through some of the issues but again, it was way too much work for much too little in return. As I recall, I had issues with PHP7. It might be documented here in the forum if you search my previous posts.

I like opencart but the add-ons soon add up and not every shop owner can throw the necessary funds at it.

I recall trying to run on PHP later than 5.6 and there were problems with deprecated and obsoleted actions...so I built a php 5.6 environment for 2.5.4 and it has been running happily in that level ever since. I too am planning on moving to OpenCart, and am happy to pay for specific additions as:

A) I don't have the programming skills unless I am stuck to fix or modify code - which I do in a pinch, but it takes lots of my time, and

B) My web site generates enough cash flow to be worth investing in the software, and thus I have the luxury to have the support someone else to get the code right.

osCmax has been good to my shop, and I hate to let it go, but let's face it, it is abandonware as far as I can tell. Our Captan seems to have wandered off to other projects and left this to folks who run small sites who still want a basic setup that mostly works fine out of the box.

I think if more people had been willing to send in some money from time to time he would have been more interested but most users here wanted a free ride, so they got what they paid for...I've donated a wee bit now and then to help defer the running costs, with a further $20 today because Ridexbuilder took the time to help me, and it was osCmax work. Now to get something to him to cover a few beers or a cheap bottle of plonk, if I can get his tip jar link. Maybe on his web site...

True, the mods are nice and yes, I dropped a few hundred at $10-50 per mod but that was mostly by choice. I think the free stock opencart is much better than any version oscmax that is publicly available due to how outdated oscmax is and how much maintenance it takes to keep it limping along. I cringe at the thought of anyone entering in to oscmax now, that is signing your own death certificate.

Just an opinion here but if someone cannot spend a few dollars here an there on their web presence... there might be bigger issues lurking.

I tend to agree, with at least this bit and wouldn't advocate any new stores using osCmax. Would love to see a rejuvenated osCmax based on osCommerce/Phoenix but somehow never see that happening. I know first hand how much effort it takes to shoehorn in all the mods and keep them updated - not easy.
