I believe this is the same session issue reported elsewhere.

This will get you into the admin panel: osCmax v2.5.3

However, we have gone to the extra effort of making the admin directory renaming part of the installer - please use it or you are going to get a lot of nasty people trying to hack your site.

    Regards.

Edit: Can you post back what your server config is ... PHP version etc.

Installs in the web root, ignores admin warnings and then asks for help - you have the patience of a Saint, PGM.

I think I found the issue with this. I have modified the language detection in application_top.php.

If running 2.5.3, try replacing your copy of application_top.php in /catalog/includes/ and /admin/includes/ with each of these respectively.

I have labeled the zip files according to where they go. Be sure not to mix them up as they ARE NOT identical. One is for the catalog, one for the admin.

Let me know how it works and we can get it committed to the core.

Hi, just tested the two files on XAMPP 1.8.1.0 and they seem to solve the admin login problem

    Best regards

Michael, I had this same problem.

Virgin installation of 2.5.3 on 1And1.com servers. Also seemed to be fixed by changing my PHP version from 5.4 to 5.2.

I have changed the version back to 5.4 and the new files seem to be working fine.

    Thanks

The files provided fixed the white pages when using 2.5.3 with xammp. Thanks.

I've got the same problem, the fix above removed the white screen however my site's currencies aren't showing up but do when you manually add the currency code onto the end of the URL.

    Any ideas?

THANK YOU!! I've been trying to get my first installation up and running for quite a while but even after a couple of clean installs I was baffled by the WSOD. After reading a LOT of less-than-helpful comments about this problem in other threads, your answer (and files) were a simple, straight forward fix to a very perplexing issue. Now I can finally move forward. Again, thanks for leaving politics and opinion out of it and simply providing a helpful answer.

This also fixed my both admin and catalog side. Thank you! Our site was running oscmax 2.5.3.
Do we need to upgrade our site right away to prevent future problems?
    Thanks again!
