    Question Image Handling mod

    Hi Guy's

never had a need for an image handling mod but i have recently created a site for someone who is not quite so computer literate and as a result i have managed to show him how to add products and things however i don't think he could handle FTPing images to thumbnial and Image_big folders that's if I could teach him how to create the different images...

I guess what i'm looking for is a module that i can install that will create all the different images needed when you add a product image.... so say you select the large image as your product image but then as it uploads it create a thumb nail image in the thumbs folder and a normal sized product image in the image folder and then places your large image in Image_big to use as the zoom / click her to enlarge image?

I know i'm kind of asking for the earth her but i'm hoping this is something someone has come across in the past and can point me in the direction of a nice easy to install Module, other than mopics.

    Cheers

    M

    Errmmm ...

v2.5 has auto-image creation for a product size and thumbnail size.

It also has an image manager I wrote which will regenerate the images in case you change the settings in admin or have any missing. It will also find any products which don't have an image attached and any orphans which are just littering up your server ...

All neatly done through admin ... the only thing missing is multi-image upload in product create ... which we are hoping to get into v2.5 stable.

    Regards,

Hi Thanks for the quick reply!!

Just found the image manager!!! Nice!!!

Really like that feature!!! As for auto thumb creation do I have to switch it on in admin?
If so how / where ? Reason I ask is it's not happening at the mo and I haven't changed any
    Settings I'm aware of!

    Cheers

Unless you are trying to upload a stupidly HUGE image, then phpThumb will generate the three sizes of image for you automagically. All during the course of product image upload in Admin. - do a test and look for the images in images/images_big, images/products and images/thumbs.

It is very much server environment dependant but up to around 400Kb is normally handled easily - possibly more - and is resampled accordingly. If the server has ImageMagick capability, in addition to the standard GD library, then that increases the max. size of images that can be processed, in addition to a reduction in server load (not confirmed).

    See wiki for tips.
