You tell me. I'm new at this and haven't a clue, so I thought I'd start out by asking more experienced users. I'm looking for ease of setup and not outrageous fees, and ...is there anything else I should consider?
thanks for your opinion,

There is so much to this equation. If you are already an existing business with a bank account and credit card accepting facility, you may wish to go to your provider to see if one of the existing methods in oscmax can work in their system. Something like Authorize.net might be the "easiest". If you are new to business, you might find that the Paypal IPN fits the bill. It can be accepted with no monthly charges, it is already built-in to oscmax, and is fast to configure. Figure that if you are starting from scratch, the no monthly minimum trumps the very slightly higher fees compared to a few other methods. However, as you grow, you can change to a different module, quite easily.
thanks.
with regard to Paypal IPN isn't there a monthly charge of $30? My understanding of PayPal is that you can use it 2 ways:
1)have the user go to the payPal site to complete the transaction (being registered with a business account), which is free or
2)get payPal Pro and incorporate payPal in to the ecomm site and have seemless transactions-user never leaves your ecomm web site. I thought the second type was $30.
Or maybe I'm mistaken. I'm just learning all this. I'd love to know.

Have been out of town and with no internet. Sorry.
The IPN is the software, not a cost it works at no additional charge with osCMax.
You are correct with the two points you mention for how to use Paypal.
Best payment method is........
CASH!!!! Unmarked small denominations bills.......
Really this could be debated - what works best for you. If you use any processor - you have to watch there charges for everything. Cheapest is OFFLINE - manually handle the transaction. Time consuming - yes. Best way - no. Potential for fraud, lost sales, errors - big!
Quickest easiest to get up and running is Paypal. No up front merchant fees etc... by no means is it the cheapest in the long run running a ton of orders though a month.
We support a variety of processors - and even more are supported. Shop and compare.
