On the face of it, it does seem to be the server environment that is the cause.
The files ownership is normally the same across the whole catalog structure.
At least you're up and running.


(Error logs should indicate not being able to overwrite the temp file. Also, turning on osCmax error reporting may well have picked up on the same error.)

Well, I installed this as root, but Apache2 runs as user www-data. But, there are only a few places where the store writes files other than the database. This was a directory that was created during the file loading operation. Empty directories that are created during the store setup get the www-data ownership, and were fine, but this directory had templates in it.

Oh, this store has been running since mid-January. This Invoice problem was a minor quirk, especially since it didn't work on the previous store, either (likely the same cause).

There is nothing in the osCMax http error log. Maybe something in the Apache2 logs, but good luck finding something important in that huge flurry of messages.
