google checkout: Failed to Get Basic Authentication Headers

hi

i am using the oscmax google checkout mod: google-checkout-oscmax-v1.4beta1.2, and am getting error:

"Failed to Get Basic Authentication Headers when installing."

Google Checkout for oscxmax is broken and doesn't work.

This usually means that you are on a server running php as cgi (fastcgi or suphp), in which case you need to configure it differently.

so that is not the problem
what should the correct apache setting be?

I can't reproduce the error, and GC works fine for me, so I don't think it is the mod that is broken. That error is always a configuration problem with the module according to the googlecheckout group.

I will be reworking it though (there have been a few updates that should be incorporated into the osCMax module). If you are feeling motivated, try to install the osCommerce GC module from scratch.

well if you can rework GC really soon, i can trade you a completely working batch print 3.1.1 for oscmax which works with register globals off and has all the bugs worked out of it, which you will then have it for adding into oscmax. currently batch print 3.1.1 for oscmax is totally broken.

i can change any server settings you wish, to get GC to work, just need to know how to configure.

Well now that doesn't seem very right. I give you the entire osCMax package for nothing, and you hold out on me for one mod? ;)

It is on my radar (google checkout) as I just did an installation of it for someone last week and it works fine. I will have go back and checkmy notes to see if there were any issues with the install.

i keep getting: "failed to get basic authentication headers", when i try to install it. during the part of the install that asks you to test

i have checked my server and it is not running php over cgi or suphp.

so i dont know why it is not working.

i have seem to have gotten around the "failed to get basic authentication headers" error.

i installed a clean copy of oscmax, and then reinstalled: 1.4.0-beta 1.2 (http://www.oscmax.com/projects/release/google_checkout_for_oscmax_1_4_0_beta_1_2?)

so far it seems to be working well.

but

there are two different google checkout modules for oscmax:

1.4.0-beta 1.2 (http://www.oscmax.com/projects/release/google_checkout_for_oscmax_1_4_0_beta_1_2?)

and

google_checkout_oscCMax_1.4.5.CCS.zip (http://www.oscmax.com/forums/attachments/google-checkout/170d1209866803-beta-module-google-checkout-oscmax-v1-4-5-ccs-google_checkout_osccmax_1.4.5.ccs.zip)

which one should i use? i hear google_checkout_oscCMax_1.4.5.CCS.zip (http://www.oscmax.com/forums/attachments/google-checkout/170d1209866803-beta-module-google-checkout-oscmax-v1-4-5-ccs-google_checkout_osccmax_1.4.5.ccs.zip) has been used without problems?

also, what is the different between these releases?
