Hi,
I am just wondering what takes to make a site like co.cc. When you sign up with them, you get a subdomain like www.yourname.co.cc - is available (http://yourname.co.cc)
How are they able to provide DNS service for subdomains?
Thanx
They have there own DNS server or use a reseller account with someone who has one. It is not that hard - just a Cron script to add in newly created subdomains... In fact I can go on my hosted server and ADD a sub domain and have it working in like 3 mins...it takes 2.8min to load Firefox, browse to the secure web interface, login, navigate to the domain tools..... 0.20 mins to decide the name I want and to enter it...
However it can take anywhere upto 24 or 48 hours for the new domain to be reconzed/populate on ALL routers and DNS servers...

I know how to make a wildcard DNS entry for subdomains such that anything.mydomain.com would be directed to a folder on my server.
But how do I make a DNS settings so that subdomain anything.mydomain.com would have a nameservers pointing to a different server?
Assuming I am running cPanel on Apache
Thanx
That would need full access to the server and DNS services. More than likely not possible though any cPanel - this is a level user interface - you need FULL access to the server.

Suppose I have a dedicated server and apache installed on it.
What setting would I need to make so that subdomain.mysite.com can have its own nameservers?
Thanx
