osCmax v2.5 Beta 3 Released - Discussion thread

Ridex, do you really want to see my requirements list? Cabana's site is getting upgraded, but apart from that we should make sure that the fedex module is the one that will support the new fedex requirements since that is happening now and I'm sure Cabana isn't the only person who uses the fedex module.

Could you please tell me what is the Template that you are using for your test site (CottonBarn :) and where I could download it? I have been shopping around for osCMax compatible templates, but this one strikes me for its simplicity, readability and its efficiency to present content and functions. To put briefly, I really like it.

FedEx has been a four letter word around my office the past 3 days. Due to fraud I was forced to get a new account number. With the new account I was unable to get on the "old" Ship manager API server. I was forced to use their new quick routing Web services API server. Needless to say my fedex module failed to work. After begging and pleading with them I was able to get a temporary meter number to work on the old server. I was told that this server is no longer available for new accounts so anyone using oscMax for the first time will not be able to use FedEx with the current module. As you know I work with MeT00 and when it comes to integration of modules I can handle the truly straight forward modules. I would compare my ability to read/edit php to the ability of a first graders ability to read and wright English.

After searching on the internet for some time I found this Zen Card module for the new FedEx. They also have an additional module which will include FedEx's new Smart Post Service, which uses USPS for the final leg of delivery. I know Zen was origninally built off of an osc store so I am thinking this module might have most of what we need.

I know I am on borrowed time when it comes to getting the new module and I have to think I am not alone. If this is going away in June it really should be in 2.5 don't you think.

Ridex, and now you get to see what I deal with all the time.

As I don't play with zencart, I don't know how much they changed the way that shipping modules work, but if they can do it, we should be able to as well. Considering that FedEx is no longer supporting the old module, I think that Cabana may have a point in that we should either remove fedex from 2.5 or get a new module for fedex in 2.5 so that it will be able to be used when RC1 releases. I'm sure Cabana will be more than happy to be the test crash dummy for making sure that the new module works in 2.0.X stores. Like he said, he is able to read and follow directions at the same level as a first grader... that is what he said isn't it?

@JC1 - this is a template that I developed for v2.0.25 to test out osCmax. It is not available for download as such ... although you are not the first person to request it ...

Since building this template I have been working on v2.5 committing most of the features and functionality to the core code. When v2.5 is stable I will hopefully be releasing a number of templates similar to CottonBarn.

Just wondering what sort of time frame V 2.5 will be until the next (last ?) release

I currently run oscommerce, and its so buggy - can't wait to start again, but really want one page checkout and the rest of the fixes
